XTGT secondary targets

The secondary target units, called XTGT, are motorised units that allow to put one out of four targets in the beam. Normally the choisces are the following:

  • Lead: 4 mm of Lead, i.e. almost a radiation length, almost no interaction length
  • Copper: 40 cm of Copper, i.e. more than 30 radiation lengths, 3 interaction lengths,
  • Beryllium: 40 cm of Beryllium, i.e. roughly one radiation and interaction length,
  • Empty: Only air.
